About

Virtual Race Car Engineer and onRails are built by Monkey Face Software LLC, a small studio focused on one thing: helping drivers understand race car setup instead of just copying someone else’s.

Monkey Face Software LLC

Monkey Face Software LLC was founded in 2018 to house Virtual Race Car Engineer and the Setup Developer Tool, and has since grown to include onRails, the transparent overlay that brings that same setup-engineering process into your sim cockpit. The company’s tools have helped more than 10,000 drivers make sense of their setups across both sim and real-world racing.

Every product traces back to the same idea: a setup change should come with a reason, not just a number. That’s why onRails and Virtual Race Car Engineer both work by asking what the car is doing and explaining why a change fixes it, rather than handing over a setup file and hoping it works.

The team

Monkey Face Software is led by Tim McArthur, who has spent three decades working at the intersection of motorsport and software, including add-on development for major racing titles, co-founding the online racing organization Race2Play, and real-world track time through the National Auto Sport Association’s license program.
